This adds another 101 for a total of 303 useful idioms.  In this volume, we continue our exploration of Japanese idioms, categorizing them into four thematic sections: Part 1: Body Part IdiomsPart 2: Animal IdiomsPart 3: Personality and Behavior IdiomsPart 4: Situational Idioms Each idiom is thoroughly explained, providing: •    The expression in Japanese and its figurative English translation•    The literal meaning and common usage•    Etymology and cultural background where available•    An example sentence showcasing the idiom in context•    A comprehensive vocabulary breakdown of the example sentence While this book is immensely beneficial even for beginners, hiragana and a basic understanding of Japanese sentence structure are required. Once one zooms beyond the basics of a language, idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and slang can provide the spice to keep motivation up and progress going forward. This book will introduce 101 of the most common Japanese idioms. We are including, at no extra charge, sound files for all the examples found in this book. Use these files to practice your pronunciation and listening. In addition, we are also including a free Anki flashcard deck with sound of all the idioms found in the collection. Anki is a free flashcard software that will help you quickly remember these idioms. In this edition, we've eliminated all Rōmaji (Roman letters) and limited Furigana (the small Hiragana over Kanji) to its first occurrence in each lesson. This approach may challenge beginners, but it's our way of ensuring your success in Japanese - consider it 'tough love. Our goal is your success in mastering Japanese. Early reliance on Rōmaji and Furigana can impede long-term progress. We advocate for learning vocabulary in its proper context as the most effective method. Every idiom is followed by an example sentence and a paragraph or two explaining the context and usage. To further support your learning journey, we're offering an exceptional collection of bonus materials: 300+ Sound Files Anki Flashcard Deck ePub and PDF versions of the book For each idiom, we provide three accompanying sound files. All sound files have been recorded by native Japanese voice actors and actresses. The first sound file is the idiom itself. The second is the example sentence. The third sound file has the idiom, an English translation, the idiom repeated slowly, and the example sentence with translation. Try to mimic the Japanese speakers in sound and presentation. The download link for the complimentary sound files is located on the book's last page. Don't wait any longer to enrich your Japanese vocabulary. Give your Japanese vocabulary a boost with 101 More Common Japanese Idioms now.

Makoto Magazine #81 - All the Fun Japanese Not Found in Textbooks $9.00
Makoto E-Zine series #81 Recommended for beginner to intermediate learners of Japanese. You can purchase the printed version on Amazon by clicking here.   For Beginners to Lower Intermediates: Boost Your Japanese Journey Today!Ah, November! The air is crisp, the days are growing shorter, and the leaves are putting on their most dazzling show of the year. Just look at that cover! Isn’t it stunning? Those vivid reds and golden yellows are a celebration of Japan's famous 紅葉 — the autumn leaves that transform the landscape into a fiery canvas. If you look up 紅葉 you'll find two readings: こうよう and もみじ. Now, you might be wondering, why? Well, 紅葉(こうよう) generally refers to the vibrant autumn leaves in a broader sense, while 紅葉(もみじ) specifically highlights the beauty of the Japanese maple tree, with its delicately shaped leaves and brilliant red hue. Both readings, however, capture the spirit of fall in Japan—the season of changing colors, warm nostalgia, and leisurely strolls through nature.People travel far and wide to enjoy 紅葉狩(もみじが)り (autumn-leaf viewing) which literally means "hunting autumn leaves." It’s not so much a hunt as it is a chance to admire the beauty of nature, similar to 花見(はなみ) (cherry blossom viewing) and 月見(つきみ) (moon viewing). So, as you read through this month's Makoto, take a moment to soak in that feeling of 紅葉 — whether you picture the iconic もみじ maple leaves or just that full-blown autumn こうよう explosion of colors. Let's dive into this season together! ➡️ How to read the eBooks: You may need to follow the steps outlined in our eBook guide. ➡️ To purchase a digital or print version, kindly click the "Format" option below the product title. Makoto Magazine #77 - All the Fun Japanese Not Found in Textbooks from $9.00
Makoto E-Zine series #77 Recommended for beginner to intermediate learners of Japanese. You can also buy this series on Amazon by clicking here - Makoto #77 Kindle or Paperback Edition Do you know the etymology for 富士山 (ふじさん - Mt. Fuji)? No? Well, don’t feel bad. No one else really knows for sure, but in today’s issue, we explore a few intriguing origin stories. Hint: it has something to do with Princess Kaguya! The beginner reader, titled “Mandarin Orange,” is a fun story about how easy it is to mess up Japanese. It’s a great example of how trying to be polite can sometimes come off as shockingly rude. The cover says, 暑(あつ)くなってきましたね, which means, “It’s becoming hot, don’t you think?” This phrase combines the adverbial form of  暑(あつ)い (hot) and なってきました which indicates a process that has been happening and has now reached the present. "なって" (becoming) + "きました" (has come to be) implies that the temperature has been rising and it is now noticeably hot. So, dig in and let us know if you have any questions. ➡️ How to read the eBooks: You may need to follow the steps outlined in our eBook guide. ➡️ To purchase a digital or print version, kindly click the "Format" option below the product title. Kanji de Manga Volume 1 - The Japan Shop
Kanji de Manga Volume 1 $17.00
Paperback. 144 pages. 7 x 5 inches. -----------------     This award-winning series from Manga University uses original comic artwork to teach readers how to identify and write the most common Japanese kanji ideographs. Volume 1 introduces 80 basic kanji that all Japanese schoolchildren are required to learn before entering the third grade. "A brilliant idea!" says Ronald A. Morse, retired professor of Japan Studies at UCLA and the University of Las Vegas, Nevada. "Japanese kanji — the written symbols adapted from Chinese — were originally drawings of images from real life. Japanese comic books and cartoons now provide fresh images to help us learn. Kanji de Manga uses today's manga images to make the kanji learning process fun and easy for otaku of all ages. This is a brilliant approach to learning the language." Each page features its own comic strip, kanji pronunciation guide, stroke order, and English explanations. Created by Glenn Kardy, editor of several volumes in the popular How to Draw Manga series, including Getting Started, the first book of its kind to be used at major universities in the United States (UCLA) and Japan (Waseda). Artwork by Chihiro Hattori, niece of legendary manga artist Eichi Fukui. Features a foreword by Tomonori Morikawa, Professor of International Studies at Waseda University, Tokyo.
